Silence (poem)

To be in silence

Is not quiet,

Not completely.

To close the mouth

And seal it,

Decidedly,

Is not tragedy.

It is the mind who speaks

When the mouth does not

And the soul who listens.

And sometimes,

It is the soul who speaks

When the mouth is quiet

And the mind who listens.

At times, the body speaks

To the soul and mind

Only audible

With lips sealed

Purposefully,

Intentionally,

Softly,

Determined and calm

Silent and strong

Breath is song

The quiet mouth
